Electricity
Good ventilation on a bus (especially a large one) is essential to ensure good air circulation! After comparing models, we opted for the Maxxfan 5100k, which has 10 speeds and allows you to push or pull the air. By using two fans, one that pulls and the other that pushes, you create a corridor of fresh air, and you wouldn't be able to live without it (but we didn't think it was necessary to pay more for the remote control, which we probably would have lost)!
Renogy 40A DC-DC Battery Charger
The crimping tool kit securely connects cables and connectors. It includes a crimping tool and ferrules for secure and durable connections.
Renogy 3000w Pure Sine Wave Inverter
With a high electricity demand, we chose to install two 3000W pure sine wave inverters, but they also come in 2000W. We wanted a system that was easy to manage and resistant to the cold, as we put them in our luggage rack, and after the first winter, they accomplished their mission.
Plumbing
Marine water heater by heat exchange & 120v
If you've been following us for a while, or if you've already met us, you know we're a bit princess-like (Sam as much as Jess)... So we needed a solution to have a large quantity of hot water, all the time. This water heater (available in 6 or 11 gallons) definitely does the job! In fact, for six months, we only used the water heater with the motor's heat exchanger because we hadn't figured out how to activate the 120V, and we already found it efficient... Now that it's working at its full potential, it really feels like home!
Daily Buslife
Camco Leveling Block
Very useful when the ground is not level, or if it is not stable, for a large bus, we recommend having 2 packs, we only have one at the moment and would have needed a few more most of the time. As easy to use as Lego blocks, so even your children can do it, and comes with a carry bag!
T-Fal Ingenio Ultra-Compact Cookware Set
After a few months of living in the autobs, we realized that our home cookware was taking up a lot of space... With this ultra-compact cookware set, and the removable handle, we found a lot of space in our kitchen cupboards, without putting aside the luxury of having a complete cookware set!
The Instant Pot is really practical for cooking quickly. We mainly use it to cook our rice, but also for making delicious stir-fries and stews!
RV Water Filter with Flexible Hose Protector
During our winter in Florida, we met a young couple who recommended that we always fill our tank with a filter. Their story convinced us: they once had a lizard that had slipped into the water inlet pipe without them noticing, and thanks to the filter, it couldn't get into their clean water tank!
Allows greater flexibility to connect our drinking water system to the different locations we visited.
Flamers Natural Firelighters 🇨🇦
In April 2022, I went to the Toronto Outdoor Show for work and stopped by their booth, just out of curiosity, with NO INTENTION TO BUY AT THAT TIME. However, the guy sitting there took the time to listen to my needs, then he handed me a big pack (about 20 fire starters) FREE and said ''try them, and if you like them, order them on amazon, leave a review and tell your friends! And since we first tried it, we have been totally impressed! We just ordered 200 because it has changed our daily life! We have never used more than one at a time and our fires have always started, even at outdoor events where everyone wants to start the fire with gas and oil these small fire starters have been more useful. One time this really impressed us was in Northern Quebec during the summer when we had a big wind, but still, only one fire starter worked to get the fire going on that cold and windy night. Also, they don't smell bad like other fire starters and they are eco-friendly, we are definitely satisfied and we hope this review will help you make your decision!
Miscellaneous for construction
Reflective insulating lining
This fabric is YOUR solution for insulating your bus windows, summer and winter! The aluminum side reflects the sun, keeping you cool in the summer; during the winter, the cotton lining keeps the cold out. It's so effective that during the winter, you have to take them down every day; otherwise, a layer of ice forms between the curtain and the window, yet you don't feel the cold on the other side of the curtain... All you have to do is sew your favorite fabric for the interior, and your insulated curtains are ready!
80,000 K BTU forced air heater
During the cold weather during our bus conversion, we used this forced-air heater to heat the entire bus! It was so effective that we could wear a tank top on the bus if we wanted. Now, we keep it as a backup heater and to help the bus engine warm up faster when it's freezing outside.
Exterior aesthetics of the bus
Henry Roof Painting
Henry paint is an ideal option for reducing the impact of the sun shining directly onto the roofs of our buses. Thanks to this paint (which is rather difficult to apply), we've seen a significant difference in the interior of the vehicle. We've seen it on many groups, and despite the price, we don't regret our purchase!
Front headlights (Fit: Freightliner M2 106 112
One of the points that we had to adjust during our first mechanical inspection in Quebec was that our headlights were foggy, we had sanded them for the inspection, but knew that we would be told again the next day so we preferred to change them for new ones!
